Half Day Professional Workshop

Friday –May 19, 2017 | 1:30pm - 4:30pm | 3 Contact Hours

Leader: Michael Hickey, Ph.D., Staff Psychologist & Director, Center for Psychological Evaluation, Albert Ellis Institute

Social anxiety, generalized anxiety, and various forms of phobias are a few examples of disorders that include unhealthy anxiety as a core symptom and source of functional impairment. Anxiety disorders are the most common form of psychological disorders in the United States and motivate many people to seek psychotherapy. Fortunately, many highly effective, evidence-based approaches are available to practitioners. This half-day workshop will focus on how anxiety disorders develop and how evidence-based approaches can be utilized in the treatment of anxiety. Rational-Emotive and Cognitive-Behavior Therapy (RE&CBT) theory, research, and techniques will be reviewed and discussed. Participants will learn how to utilize cognitive, emotive, and behavioral techniques to address a range of anxiety-related problems.
